What this website collects, why, and how to be taken off the list

This website asks for your details in two places: the contact form, and the free guides. Nothing else on the site collects anything about you.
Sammy Margo is responsible for the personal details you give on this website. The site is built and hosted for her by ESRE Media, who keep the servers and the email running on her behalf and do not use your details for anything of their own.
When you send a message, Sammy receives your name, your email address, your subject and your message, and you receive a copy of the same message for your records. A press enquiry also goes to Sammy's PR, Sally Morgan, so that a journalist on a deadline reaches whoever can answer fastest.
Sammy uses these details to answer you. The lawful basis is legitimate interests: you wrote to her and expect a reply. Writing to her does not put you on any mailing list.
When you download a guide, Sammy receives your name, your email address, and the name of the guide you took. This tells her who is reading and which subjects matter to her readers. The lawful basis is again legitimate interests. The guide is yours whether or not you agree to anything else.
Your browser also remembers your name and email on your own device, so that you are asked once and not again for every guide. That information stays in your browser. Clearing your browsing data removes it.
Sammy only sends guides, sleep advice and news to people who have ticked the box asking for them. The box is never ticked for you, and nothing on this site is withheld if you leave it alone. If you do tick it, you can stop at any time: use the link in any message she sends, or write to her through the contact form and ask to be taken off the list.
Enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful to answer and to follow up, and no longer than three years after the last contact between you. The record of guide downloads is kept for as long as Sammy is running the guides, and is reviewed each year.
Nobody buys or receives this information for their own use. It passes through the mail and hosting services ESRE Media runs for the website, and, for press enquiries only, it reaches Sammy's PR. It is stored on servers in the United Kingdom.
You can ask to see what is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being held at all. Ask through the contact form and Sammy will answer within one month.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and it measures nothing about your visit. Videos are not loaded from YouTube until you press play, so YouTube learns nothing about you before then. The only thing kept on your device is the one described under the free guides above.
